Andrea’s compassionate, client centred
support is grounded in years of experience working with people in difficult emotional and situational circumstances. She takes a collaborative, strength based approach, and believes in your inherent strengths and spirit. Andrea's goal is to help you rediscover your inner resources and tap back into your original self. She is a warm, pragmatic, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive therapist..
Andrea incorporates various practice models such as cognitive-behavioural, narrative, psychodynamic, mindfulness, acceptance, and solution focused therapies as appropriate to her client’s needs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Andrea draws on years of professional experience gained working with individuals and families since 1995. She holds a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto, a Specialized Honours BA in Psychology from York University and Certification in Online Counselling from U of T. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the Ontario Association of Social Workers, and the International Society for Mental Health Online. She worked for years at a family services agency where she trained social work interns.
INTERESTS
Over the years, Andrea has published nineteen children’s books that model a theme of friendship, respect and community.
Her Elliot Moose characters aired on TV internationally for over ten years. A proud Canadian, her book Good Morning, Canada, was given to every grade one student in the country by TD Bank. She is a respected public speaker and for years could be found in schools across Canada, where she inspired children to see themselves as empowered young creators.
